Louis Armstrong

Louis Armstrong was an amazing trumpet player and a renowned singer. His work, "What a Wonderful World" came out towards the end of the Civil Rights Movement and was accepted widely as one of the best songs ever written, specifically for its meaning at the time, which promoted the belief that even in a time like the one it was written in, life is still beautiful.

mcafee said...: I analyzed Louis Armstrong's What a Wonderful World as well and I thought that it went along with the time period because it was during the depression and he was trying to raise the spirits of the people during the time that were giving up hope.; May 27, 2008 at 7:12 AM

Harlem Renaissance

The Harlem Renaissance was the result of The Great Migration, and the newly created black neighborhood of Harlem. Through the racial based violence, black authors started to put out their works of arts as a way of expressing and using the newly acquired political freedom and over all ability as citizens.

The period was the beginning and opening for many Africans, not only African Americans, but those from the West Indies and other English colonies at the time.

The two periods had similarities and differences, while both based around overcoming racial differences, the Civil Rights movement had more to do with obtaining the rights and fighting for them, where the Renaissance focused on using the rights to publish as intellectual equals.
